GLOBAL CHALLENGE What began with three containers of beans and a company called Cafédirect in 1991 has turned into three revolutionary movies and a global organization called the World fair Trade Organization. What started with a group of hardcore actors and comedians in a 2m square steel elevator turned into Damon Albarn, the National Theatre and 250 international artists in the London Eye. And now World Fair Trade Day. And next... The Trilogy.

Host Universal is developing three movies each set in remote parts of the world and each one impacting poverty, climate change and economic crisis in a radically new way. The narrative of each film focuses on the heroes and heroines who live in hell, people who, through character, energy and resolve are building a better, more sustainable world . Plotted from the real economic, social and statistical evidence of today, each film depicts the future, 10, 20, 30 years hence – either tragic or transformed. A future that we can either live with, or change.

The Trilogy is designed to go beyond cinematic drama and experience, reaching through time to actually change the future in real life. They will generate investment in grower communities across Asia, Africa & Latin America and touch the lives of billions of people, building dynamic new relationships, opportunities and infrastructure, and dismantling the mental trade barriers that divide us all. The sets that are built will be permanent, the opportunities they create will be supported beyond the production, the relationship between the characters and the audience will continue beyond the life of a normal film.

The films in the Trilogy may be high-action thrillers, gritty cinéma-vérité, optimistic romances or dystopian tragedies. They may delve into the murky underworlds of drugs, slavery and terrorism. They may stay on the plantations of the high Andes or stalk the corridors of power in Washington, Geneva and Brussels.

Trilogy ONE. if you have an interest or a passion for change, now’s the time to invest your energy, talent or money in the development of these films. You can eat, drink and wear The Trilogy if you have the appetite. In ten year’s time today’s grim reality will either be a lot worse, or changed for the better, by you.
